The popular video game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild from the The Legend of Zelda series was released on March 3, 2017 for Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo Switch. Like the first game in the series – Legends of Zelda – which was released in Japan in 1986, the story revolves around the kingdom of Hyrule and its struggle against the evil demon Ganon. The demon is fought by a brave princess and brave knights.
The original legend is set 10,000 years before the hero Link lived. It is told that the inhabitants of Hyrules were tired of the constant devastating attacks of Ganon and therefore developed fighting machines – the Titans – which were controlled by specially selected warriors. These were supported by so-called guards, who also defended the empire as if by magic. Thus machines, warriors and the legendary Princess Zelda fought against Ganon and defeated him in his time.
Many centuries have passed since then and again a prophecy says that Ganon will return and start a new attack. The current population of Hyrule is now undertaking extensive excavations to locate the relics of their former victory and prepare them for battle.
In fact, the four Titans and the Force Guardians are found and once again the best, cleverest and strongest warriors are chosen to guide them. And again they are led by a princess.
Unfortunately, Ganon was more cunning this time and was able to take control of Titans and Guardians in a surprise attack, kill four of the five stretches and capture the princess.
Only Held Link survives – but is critically injured. He falls into a deep sleep and wakes up again a hundred years later in the Shrine of Life. His wounds have healed, but he has lost all his memories and finds it difficult to find his way in the strange world. Somehow he managed to escape the Forgotten Plateau and finally, at the king’s request, he sets out to rescue the princess and finally bring peace to the kingdom.
In the course of the game Link also has to be clothed and equipped with weapons again, since he had lost everything.
Link – a great option for cosplay
Link is a very likeable hero. His costume is relatively easy to recreate, and there are also great options to buy complete Link Cosplay costumes in good Cosplay online stores.
The name link comes from the English language and means connection or connect. This is a smart name, because in the video direction finder Link represents the connection between the game world and the player. The players of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild can choose their own names, as with all games in the series.
Normally Link wears a green tunic with a green pointed cap, combined with brown knee-high boots. He also typically carries a sword and shield. Normally he can change the color of his armor in the games, but each option has different strengths.
In Legends of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, however, he can be seen in an attractive turquoise, richly embroidered tunic.
In the prehistory of Breath of the Wild, Link’s clothing is the so-called elongated robe. In the actual main game Link wakes up disoriented and without memory in the Shrine of Life. He has lost all his clothes and has to buy new clothes or armor during the game. The different pieces of clothing and armor have different strengths and weaknesses.
Link has friendly blue eyes and shoulder-length blond hair. He has the symbol of the Triforce tattooed on the back of his sword leading hand.
If you want to recreate Link from Breath of the Wild in cosplay, you’ll need the characteristic embroidered tunic, as it differs from the typical clothing Link wears in other games of the Zelda series. You will also need leather straps across the chest and a leather belt. Under the tunic Link wears a long-sleeved white shirt. The tight pants are also white. Also in Breath of the Wild Link wears soft brown leather boots that reach to just below the knees. Besides shield and sword he also carries bow and arrow.
If you don’t have shoulder-length blonde hair yourself, you will of course need an appropriate wig, and if you are very precise, you can use blue contact lenses. The characteristic elf ears, which can be found in every well sorted Cosplay online store, should not be missing.
If you like to be creative yourself, you can easily create the costume yourself. At least there are no really complicated armors, body parts or similar things to make or to tailor insanely elaborate clothes.
It is of course easier to buy a high quality costume set and or create something great with different pieces from the Cosplay Shops themselves.
